Vancouver USA: Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Draws Blood The new Red Cross Clark County Blood Donor Center is having their grand opening celebration March 21, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The new center is close to Westfield Shopping Center (that’s Vancouver Mall to us natives!) at 5109 NE 82nd Avenue. Mayor Royce Pollard will be there, as will Jolly Molly the Clown, Burgerville, and radio stations KUPL and KINK. You can even donate blood that day, and receive a special commemorative pin. Hazel Dell: Detour I cringe whenever I see that sign, especially since I am usually in a hurry. Well, plan ahead, because NE 88th Street between St. John’s Road and Andresen Road will be closed beginning today (March 9) until FALL! Local access will remain open for residences and businesses.

Vancouver USA: Chinese Immersion Comes to Franklin Beginning next year, Franklin Elementary School will add a Chinese Immersion program for incoming Kindergartners. Vancouver USA: State of the City Mayor Royce Pollard will give his annual State of the City address on Thursday Feb. 26, at 10 am. A non-perishable food donation for the Salvation Army Stop Hunger Warehouse is suggested.
Clark County: More Parks in Clark County The Greater Clark Parks District was approved by voters in 2005 and 21 new parks have been completed, or are under construction. According to Clark County Public Works Director, Pete Capell, “The park district program improves the quality of life for our residents, provides more outdoor recreation opportunities, and supports private-sector jobs by putting construction dollars back into the local economy.” Visit Clark County, Washington for more information.
Clark County: Dog Park Closing The Dakota Memorial Off-Leash Dog Park will be closed for maintenance from 7:30 am to 3 pm Wednesday and Thursday, Feb 18-19.
